Objectives

  • To extend students' linguistic and cultural understanding and their ability to interact appropriately with others.
  • To introduce students to new ways of thinking about, questioning, and interpreting the world and their place in it.

Topics continue to stress communication, and focus on both personal details, and life in German speaking countries.  They include

Demonstrate understanding of a variety of spoken German texts relating to areas of most immediate relevance.

Reading Comprehension

Demonstrate an understanding of a variety of German texts on areas of most immediate relevance.

Conversation

Interact using spoken German to communicate personal information, ideas and opinions in different situations.

Writing Portfolio

Write a variety of text types in German on areas of most immediate relevance.

Recommended Prior Learning

  • Year 10 German.
  • In cases of proven language ability a student may begin at Year 11 with Head of Faculty approval.
