Subject Description

Objectives
- To extend students' linguistic and cultural understanding and their ability to interact appropriately with others.
- To introduce students to new ways of thinking about, questioning, and interpreting the world and their place in it.
- To acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that equip students for living in a world of diverse peoples, languages and cultures.
- To challenge and consider our own identities and assumptions.
- To develop understanding of the power of language.
- To enjoy using another language in meaningful situations.
Content
Topics continue to stress communication, and focus on both personal details, and life in Spanish speaking countries, highlighting their various cultures.

- The place where I live/out and about.

Near future tense, preterite tense, imperfect tense, sports vocabulary, Se for passive voice, weather expressions.
Term 2
Eat to live or live to eat.
Food and kitchen vocabulary, comparatives, superlatives, tag questions, weights and measurements.
Term 3
The place where I live/out and about.
Place names, directions, clothing vocabulary, shopping vocabulary, money vocabulary, occupations, employment vocabulary, adjectives of quantity, suggestions, expressions of acceptance.
Term 4
Mind and Body.
Face parts, parts of the body, health vocabulary,
Recommended Prior Learning
- Year 10 Spanish.
- In cases of proven language ability, a student may begin at Year 11 with Head of Faculty approval.
