MYP Physical and Health Education

Objectives
- To provide an opportunity for students to reach their potential in physical growth and development.
- To develop a wide range of motor skills.
- To acquire knowledge and understanding about movement, about themselves and others, and about the contribution of physical activity to a healthy lifestyle.
- To develop effective interpersonal skills when working in a group or team.
- To develop positive attitudes to physical activity.
- To participate in physical activities which aid personal and social development.

MYP Unit | Outline |
Components of Fitness | Participating in Fitness Testing and exploring how physical performance differs for individuals depending on components of fitness. |
Aerobic Challenge | Participate in aerobic exercise to improve aerobic fitness level and work towards achieving a performance goal and a social responsibility goal. Develop an understanding of the importance of regular exercise in a healthy lifestyle. |
World Games | Participate in a range of World and Cultural Games and develop interpersonal skills. |
Movement Awareness | Creating and exploring movement through different movement contexts. |
Inclusion | Developing interpersonal skills to enhance team and individual performance in a sports education competition in the sports of Netball or Touch. |
Net Skills | Developing fundamental net skills to enhance performance in Tennis and Badminton. |
