Year 13 (2025) students are required to attend Subject Confirmation on Thursday 23 January to finalise their timetable.
Subject Description
Objectives
Design and Visual Communication focuses on where visual literacy and creative thinking is developed, using visual communication techniques.
Content
Students will choose to specialize in the field of either Spatial or Product Design. This will decide the direction of their project in preparation for their intended future studies and students can make the decision between Spatial and Product by the end of Term 1. This program requires students to apply design practice to produce a portfolio of work that shows the effective exploration, refinement and communication of their design ideas. As mentioned earlier, students are expected to complete a year-long project selected from either Spatial Design (A.S. 91629) or Product Design (A.S. 91630). After this first project, it is followed by another standard that is focused on graphically presenting their body of work (A.S. 91628). Work from these two standards will be used as evidence for an external standard (A.S. 91627) which is focused around idea development and visual communication.
Subject Overview

A.S. 91627: Students begin the term by form exploring their chosen inspiration/s.
