Tōku Taurere – Glendowie | Students learn vocabulary and structures to talk about their local community. |
Tāmaki ki Rāwhiti – East Coast Living | Students discuss how to talk about transport to and from school, activities after school, and things my whānau do on the weekend. |
Tōku Tāmaki Makaurau, tōku kāinga – My Auckland, My Home (My City) | Students discover significant places and events unique to Tāmaki Makaurau. |
Tōku Aotearoa – My World | Students explore the world around them and discuss their place in it. |
Term 1
Tōku Taurere - My Local Community.
Ākonga will talk about activities they do before and after kura, and in the weekends.
- Days of the week, before and after, hobbies and sports, likes and dislikes.
Term 2
Tōku Aotearoa, tōku kaīnga - My NZ, My Home.
Ākonga will learn about different destinations in Aotearoa, what makes them unique. Can apply the language to talk about each trip.
Focus: Numeracy - Working within a Budget.
- Plan trips around Aotearoa that include flights, accommodation, car hire and tourist attractions. Outer islands are included.
Term 3
Te Ao Nui - The World.
Ākonga will learn about the geography of the world.
Focus: Geography and Numeracy.
- Look at different continents, the uniqueness of each.
- Plan a trip to two different locations.
Term 4
Tōku Anamata, tōku wawatā - My Future, My Aspirations.
Ākonga will talk about their future aspirations.
Focus: Thinking Ahead.
Semester A
Tōku Taurere.
Tōku Aotearoa, tōku kāinga.
Semester B
Te Ao Nui.
Tōku Ao, tōku wawatā.
Criteria A: Listening Comprehension.
Criteria B: Reading Comprehension.
