Recommended Prior LearningStudents must pass the atleast two of the Year 11 Assessments, one of which being the End of Year Exam (Essay) at Year 11 History.
Year 11 History is preferred, although History can be taken for the first time at Year 12 providing the student has excellent English results.

This course concentrates on Nineteenth and Twentieth Century History.
Year 13 History Guideline(s):
16 credits NCEA Level 2 or permission from Head of Faculty.
It is required that all students achieve at least 14 credits in NCEA level 1 English as well.
Year 12 History helps develop the skills that students need for EVERY year 13 subject. In History we build student's ability to communicate, investigate, problem solve, think critically, write formal essays, develop arguments, analyse sources of information and see different perspectives on issues. History sets students up for success at University and beyond.
