Objectives

The purpose of this course is to further develop students’ problem-solving skills and critical thinking through a variety of mathematical and statistical tasks. Students will be on a programme suited to their needs.

There is the opportunity to participate in Mathematics competitions and the MATHEX team competition.

Skills and applications related to linear and non-linear (quadratic) tables, equations and graphs.

Let the Data Decide (Statistics)

Analysing and interpreting various types of data.

Trig or Treat (Geometry)

Skills and applications of angles, Pythagoras’ theorem and trigonometry.

Numeracy Unit

Unit preparing students for the online digital numeracy co-requisite assessment

Year 11 Mathematics Minimum Entry Guidelines:
11 MAS (Mathematics Specialist) – Students must have achieved the 10 credit Numeracy co-requisite and achieved well in all 10MAT MYP topics and/or Teacher recommendation.
11 MAT (Mathematics) – Yet to achieve the 10 credit Numeracy co-requisite and achievement in most topics covered in 10MAT MYP topics and/or Teacher recommendation.

Associated Costs: $10.00 Australian Mathematics Competition, Otago Mathematics Competition.
